Texas Hot Fudge Cocoa Cake

1/4 cup butter

1/2 c oil

3 TBSP cocoa

1 c water

2 c sugar

2 c flour

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 c buttermilk

1 tsp soda

2 eggs

 

ICING:

1 lb (4 cups) box powdered sugar

¼ cup butter

6 TB milk

2 TBSP cocoa

1 tsp vanilla

 

Melt butter, oil, cocoa and water in saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir. Sift flour and sugar in large bowl. Pour liquid mixture over flour mixture and beat until smooth. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, cinnamon and vanilla; mix well.

Bake at 400 F for 30 minutes.

 

ICING: Melt butter, cocoa and milk. DO NOT BOIL. Stir in sugar, nuts and vanilla. Pour over hot cake.

 

BEGIN MAKING ICING about 3-5 minutes before the cake comes out of the oven so it's ready to put over the hot cake. If you let the icing rest, it will begin solidifying.
