As humans, we have fallen in love with story and the power of words. I like to think that's one of the elements that contributes to the exceptionalism of humans, that we are endowed by our creative God with a sense of love for language and meaningful communication. Evangelist Robert Madu said,

"Creativity is the moment when you exhale what God inhaled into you before the foundation of the earth."

​

I love that. Creativity is indeed a gift from our Creator.

In this issue, our student editors have selected pieces that revolve around the theme of Overcoming Darkness. The stories, poems, memoirs, and art pieces selected will move you, challenge you, and even be painful to read at times, but our prayer is that their honesty and creativity will remind you of the greatness of God's power and the miracle of his love that intervenes on our behalf.
